Pupil Premium Funding

The Pupil Premium is additional funding on top of the main funding which a school receives. It is targeted at pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds.

In April 2017, we received Pupil Premium of £1320 for each child on roll who is currently or was previously registered for Free School Meals in the past six years. We received £3960 in total of Pupil Premium for FSM children.

We also received an additional £3800 Pupil Premium Funding for children adopted from care; this equates to £1900 each for two pupils.

The funding has been used to provide both one-to-one and small group support by teaching assistants, for pupils who are funded.

This support has had a positive impact on the attainment of these pupils, enabling them to make increased progress in the core subjects of literacy and numeracy. Pupils who are pupil premium funded make as much progress across the curriculum as other pupils (there were no pupil premium funded pupils in last year’s Y6 cohort).

It has also had a positive impact on pupil behaviour, attitude and confidence, which again impacts positively on learning.

Some of this funding for our adopted pupils is currently being spent on Play Therapy for one pupil; this has a positive impact on his self-esteem and social skills. Another pupil is to be funded this term for “Think like a Pony” therapy sessions, which take place outside of school hours.
