Pupil Premium Funding
The Pupil Premium is additional funding on top of the main funding which a school receives. It is targeted at pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds.
In April 2016, we received Pupil Premium of £1320 for each child on roll who is currently or was previously registered for Free School Meals in the past six years.
In our 2016/17 budget, St Edward’s received £3960 of Pupil Premium Funding for FSM, which equates to funding for three pupils.
We also received an additional £3800 Pupil Premium Funding for children adopted from care; this equates to £1900 each for two pupils.
The funding has been used to provide both one-to-one and small group support by teaching assistants, for pupils who are funded. It has also been used to provide learning mentor time for some of these pupils, where appropriate.
This support has had a positive impact on the attainment of these pupils, enabling them to make increased progress in the core subjects of literacy and numeracy. Pupils who are pupil premium funded make as much progress across the curriculum as other pupils (there were no pupil premium funded pupils in last year’s Y6 cohort).
It has also had a positive impact on pupil behaviour, attitude and confidence, which again impacts positively on learning.
